COLOR QUARTET

The Color Quartet paints in sound: a string quartet structured as a drama in two acts that tells a complete creation story. Across its four scenes, two primordial figures move toward one another through the void; their reunion is the spark from which everything begins. The piece is the origin myth of the composer's larger mythological cycle The Day the Gods Died, compressed into four string voices — the whole arc of a universe coming into being, rendered as a palette of shifting instrumental color.

 

The work was named a Finalist with Honorable Mention in the 2025 American Prize in Composition.
