AUDIUM PROPOSAL
Audio Pools -- An exploration of nature's randomness and predictibility through water. Brought to life with live piano interacting with a custom built MAX/MSP instrument, resulting in a unique soundscape at every preformace.
Work Samples
MAX/MSP CUSTOM INSTRUMENT
To explore the possibilities in the Audium space and this concept of moving sound like water, I built this prototype in MAX/MSP. There are four independent keyboards whose tonality and chord structures are customizable. There is also a set of effects that manipulate how the keyboards interact with one another.. Each one of these effects uses a different algorithm to produce a continuous flow of tempo triggers. A custom built controller helps the performer slide between harmonies and select the desired note timing effect.
The result is a harmonic but randomly generated composition.
Lobby Projection Concepts
The lobby and entry hallway would be a live interactive experience for the audience, The installations in these two spaces would similarly bring predictability and randomness to life.
Here is a prototype for what would be projected for the installation. The graphic is generated in MAX/MSP which is being controlled serially by 4 potentiometers running through an Arduino. These potentiometers also control the light color, in the lower left hand corner, through a 2nd Arduino that receives data serially from the Max program. The audience would be able to interact with the potentiometers and control the graphic, audio, and lights.
